Back to Bastrop SP

So we always go camping for Sam's Birthday, and it was a weekend at Goose Island (he likes fishing ) or four days at Bastrop and yes he made the right choice . Everything was packet, we head out by 4:20. There was supposed to be some kind of storm weekend. We drove through the dog is in the back of the pick up getting a bath she sure needed it, by the time we got there it was almost dark office was closed, got in set up got a great site sure we will never get it. We have been here for 9 days, and I loved it the running, the trails, the smell, and the fun my kids have going to the cottage house(Group picnic area) the slide in pine needles. Is a great park the Friday I took them to the Cabella's and boy they liked it, Sam found the Bargain Cave and every 30 second "Bianca come look at this " and the kids Mom can I have this, ooh! and this No Not that one this one my gosh they where sure about to drive me nuts, than we head up to THE CAMPING AREA there they found the shouting room game
We camped at Bastrop SP We first we took a day of fun at Cabella's store I told the kids we will came back and look around next time we had more time, so we did we shop, look more shopping and kids playing then more looking then kids where hungry so we stop at the food place they have we order kids got away with some cookies and Ice cream then it was time to head out after spending $200 dollars We love the site we took big and close to every where the kids like to go the trails are always a great thing to do We hike the green trail one it took us to the lake watch some people fishing but no fish we walk to the cabins where the in-laws where going to stay for one night We met some people and our kids where playing with there kids and they invited us to celebrate Easter they do it every year the gran-pa dresses up like a bunny it was a blast they sure had so much candy I think we still have two bags of it it was time to find out what time the grand ma and pa where going to be here Call and they said by noon so I had make plans to go to a BBQ place not to far from the park they make the best spicy cream cheese burger but the place was close so we travel to the Mexican restaurant but they where close too darn driving along and we saw a restaurant it look busy so we stop and had lunch it was good then head back to the camp site hang for a while until the room was ready we gave Sam's birthday present he wanted a hammock we had a few drinks and hide some more candy I meant eggs for the kids while I was cooking dinner then we head to the cabin it was beautiful it had a bed kitchen bath and sitting area and a patio area with a fire ring it look very nice for a couples getaway if it wasn't to expensive we played some Dominoes and then it was time to head back the kid wanted to stay with them so we got our Dennet cushions for them to sleep on then Sam and I Head back and packed the camper we where leaving the next morning Next day we took our breakfast stuff to the cabin and help clean and pack then they took the kids for a drive from Bastrop to Busher while we pack by the time they came back we had the camper down and ready to go boy I thing we learn that if we pack the night before is a lot easier for us to either stay longer and play or go home and do stuff On the way in we saw one other RV Park Lake Bastrop we wanted to come and see what it was so on the way out we stopped and got some info my what a great place for those summer days the sites where apart like the way we like them and lots of trees there is a lake so we can kayak swim hike bike and roller blade so right after we got out I call some relatives and ask if they would like to join us for a 4 of July celebration call the # and make two reservations can't wait for that look s like we are having a few friends too Ohhhh!!!! it's going to be a great weekend

First time back packing

We have always wanted to go on a hike and set up camp, one of our friend let us use a back pack. We packed it and make the list of the things we need. The bag weight 60 lb and we where caring it in our back,. never have done it kids had their sleeping bag we where packed
Sam carried up, the boys had theirs the trail was great it was beautiful morning except for the horses it was a great walk, we hid some caches on the way up, we rest twice have some water and a snack the little one had Crocs and he was not the fast, Matt sure did great he is so ready for the next one the view was great it was a long walk with kids we saw some Blue Bonnets one we got there it was a relief surprise the site had a night owl bathroom and some water for the horses it also had a fire ring a table and benches to seat down and relax we set up the tent and the kids where tired and bore there was really nothing to do here then two ladies came up with their horses and rested in our site we talk and some how they let our kids get on the horses and took them for a ride OH boy they like that a lot they left and it was back to us alone so we are looking for a big log when I spotted a Rabbit did not move it blended in with the branches and then run off it was great to see that I like the wild any kind then there come a couple with two kids and they set up their tent in our site by then I notice this is not just our spot is every ones spot talk about trying to go to a place there is no one else camping (not this time ) they had a little boy and a baby my Ethan like having him there they played then it was time for me to start dinner whats on the menu soup,flour tortillas with cheese (I froze and kipped in ice )with beef jerky (quesadillas ) and for dessert vanilla and chocolate pudding by the time I finish cooking there is two girls coming and guess what !!!! they are staying here too Bummer right kids played and then it was time to do the fire we took a duro log with some branches and viola we have a fire the girls came over and hang out with us we had a lot of fun talking to them until 11 pm moon was out it was magical the other couple the when to bed early then at 2 am the baby was crying I had my ear plugs so it did not mind me but she was crying too much morning came and it was breakfast time we had a meal ready all you had to do is pour hot water and some pita bread and I also got oat meal it was a great thing we did but is not for the whole family and the way back we stop by the lake it was a bit dry and it looked like we could just jump in and swim maybe next time.
